Earth Day comes around every year on April 22nd. It’s a time to appreciate everything nature has to offer and reflect on what we can do to protect our planet. At Renewal by Andersen, we believe that giving back starts with what we put into our products.
To celebrate this special day, we’re sharing our integrity-driven manufacturing processes, the eco-friendly materials we put in our products, and our ongoing commitment to make every home as sustainable and energy efficient as possible.
Sustainability from the Ground Up

Every window and door we design is custom-made to fit a specific home. While “custom” usually means more waste, this process is designed for maximum efficiency.
Our exclusive Fibrex® material contains 40% reclaimed wood fiber by weight, most of which comes directly from Andersen Corporation’s wood window manufacturing facilities. Instead of allowing high-quality wood scraps to go to waste, we filter them back into our supply chain. This approach ensures a steady product flow that respects our natural resources while keeping the product’s quality and integrity intact.
A Million Square Feet of Renewable Energy
All Renewal by Andersen® windows and doors are made at our top-of-the-line facility in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. And to ensure we’re doing right by our customers and the planet, our million-square-foot facility is powered by 100% renewable electricity.[1]
Operating on a fully renewable campus helps us create a great product while reducing our carbon footprint. But does any of this actually make a difference?
- Carbon Reduction: This process helps us avoid approximately 9,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.[2]
- Environmental Impact: The savings from these carbon emissions is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by over 10,000 acres of U.S. forests in a single year.[3]
Beyond Cottage Grove: Driving Change Across the Andersen Network

In addition to the work at Cottage Grove, Andersen Corporation’s Bayport facility recently switched to high-efficiency LED lighting. This change will reduce about 1,479 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year, which is equivalent to the carbon sequestered from over 24,500 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.
As one of the leading manufacturers in the window and door industry, we believe it’s our job to set the standard. We’re proud to have helped millions of people transform their homes for the better – and throughout this process, we’ve always focused on doing things the right way. For us, that means an unwavering commitment to crafting high-quality solutions, delivering a seamless installation process from beginning to end, and recruiting the most talented people to ensure your vision comes to life.
Bringing More Sustainability to Your Home
When windows are drafty and poorly insulated, your HVAC system has to work harder to maintain a consistent temperature. This will increase the production of carbon dioxide and lead to higher energy bills, making the presence of faulty windows a lose-lose situation no matter how you look at it.
Upgrading to energy-efficient windows and doors makes your space more comfortable, allows for a longer lifespan of your home’s most essential components, and reduces the need for constant heating and cooling. In other words, it paves the way for a stronger and more resilient home.
What’s Next?

Our journey towards a greener future will always be a work in progress. Whether it’s by using better materials, minimizing waste, or refining our daily processes, there’s always improvements to be made.
